When going to choose and cut a Real Christmas Tree from Chico, CA drive south on HWY 99.  Exit right but TURN LEFT at the road  (go east over the freeway towards the Butte County College)  at the Butte College exit, which is Pentz Durham Road.  Drive past Butte College.  At Clark Road do not turn towards Paradise Ca or Oroville Ca but continue straight on Pentz Durham Road past the lions, tigers and bears at Kirshner’s until the road ends at Pentz Road. TURN RIGHT and continue for a very short distance to the end of Pentz Road.  Here you will TURN LEFT onto HWY 70 and you will be driving EAST towards Reno.  You will begin to see evergreen trees along the way and you will cross Lake Oroville….you won’t need a boat because the State of California built a bridge just for you.  Continue up the Hwy.  When you see Yankee Hill Road on the right, you are getting close to the LEFT TURN onto Lunt Road.  If you begin to go downhill on Lunt Road, you are going the correct way.  At the bottom of the hill, Lunt Road ends at Nelson Bar Road.  TURN RIGHT  You are minutes away.  Look out for the deer, raccoons, wild turkeys, bob cats Mr Fox and his many bunnie friends.  We are dog friendly but we do not want you to lose your pet if he chases the wild animals into the woods. If your pet will listen to you, please feel free to bring your friend. There may be loose farm animals as you drive thru the bucolic country side; please do not run over the cows on your way to find a real Christmas tree.  We hope you did not forget your camera.  Keep a watch on the right side for Christmas Tree Farm signs and CANDY CANES.  TURN RIGHT into the driveway.

There are many photo ops on the route and you may stop several times on your family outing to the tree farm.  If you want Santa to be waiting for you when you arrive, please take a moment to call from a cell phone at the top of Lunt Road right after you turn left off HWY 70.  This is a good place to stop to get a picture of Northern California a clear day.  Chico is just out of sight behind a foothill.  Paradise in in the trees on the ridge across the canyon.  There is space to pull out of the traffic.  It takes me 30 minutes to commute to Chico State every day.
